The Family Portrait.

When I set out to make a family portrait, it is my goal not just to document the family, but to show the relationships that have grown over time. There are new relationships, like a new grand mother with her first grandchild. Or older ones, the look of a strong enduring love between husband and wife now mother and father with their first or their fifth child.

Commitment, strength, devotion and love form the structure of each family and I look for their manifestation in a portrait. My best results come from a collaboration between myself and the family. The more thought one gives to just what they want say about themselves and their loved ones, the closer to a complete and compelling portrait.
